Guidelines for Submissions of Books for Review

a. FWOMP Book Review does NOT accept unsolicited manuscripts for review. If you'd like us to review a galley, manuscript (no unfinished proofs, though), or finished book, please email us first at Books for Review.

b. If we accept your book for review, it does not mean that we will necessarily review it. FWOMP Book Review reserves the right to review or not review any such material as it sees fit.

c. FWOMP Book Review will be updated quarterly. If you'd like to know when (or if) your book will be up at the website, please contact us at FWOMP Reviews

d. Small and independent presses shall have first shot at reviews. There are a lot of large review houses that bypass these smaller presses, so we felt that giving them a bit better exposure was only fair.

e. FWOMP Book Review does not require a fee for book reviews at this time. This may change in the future (depending on volume and time constraints), but currently this service is free.

f. FWOMP Book Review encourages authors and publishers to send an accompanying publicity release or media kit.

g. We do NOT accept e-book formats. We DO accept Print on Demand titles.

h. Because a book was chosen by FWOMP Book Review does not necessarily mean that it will be reviewed positively. We're going to be honest.

i. If your book is chosen for review, FWOMP Book Review will send you an email tear sheet of the review just prior to its posting. Sorry, but we can't send out hard copy tear sheets at this time (and before you ask, NO!, you can't request that the review NOT be posted if it is negative).

j. If FWOMP Book Review accepts your book, we will require the following information. Failure to provide this information will result in no review being posted:

k. The focus of FWOMP Book Review shall remain on fiction, but we will consider non-fiction books and poetry. If you're not sure if FWOMP will review your book, email us. We'll answer you.

l. FWOMP Book Reviews can be used by the author and/or publisher (in print and on the internet). We only ask that you contact us first and to make sure that FWOMP Book Review is credited appropriately for the review.

m. Do NOT send us email attachments. We won't open them. Anything you need or want to send to FWOMP Book Review should be either by postal service or within the body of an email. To repeat: WE WILL NOT OPEN EMAIL ATTACHMENTS.

Our rating system.

        We use a quill rating system, 1 - 5 quills.

• 5 quills = Excellent, a must read.
• 4 quills = A good read.
• 3 quills = Fair read.
• 2 quills = Poor read.
• 1 quill = Not recommended
• For a literary classic--beyond ratings.
